“From Fabric to Dust”

ArtPrize 2025

This piece stems from the feeling of nostalgia; looking through old photo albums and rummaging through family artifacts. The words from Philip Levine brought out the emotion I felt thinking back on generational aspects of my family; the poem, A Story. Fabric panels that were meant to be made into clothing pieces are now holding the words from Levine. Knowing all along that things and people come to a physical end but being able to hold onto the memories and photos create a sense of comfort. People start to fade away generation after generation until there is nothing left but memory fades quicker. When before you know it you are just a picture that no one knows anymore and your memories vanish with it.

“Michigan, where ever you go”

ArtPrize Paint My Ride 2024

After being up north during the summer I kept thinking about all the beautiful parts of Michigan that I saw. I wanted to create a design that combined the best parts of the nature I was surrounded in into something that you can take where you go.

A combination of plants that are native to Michigan like the Butterfly Weed, Blue Flag Iris, Purple Cornflower, and the Bush HoneySuckle with landmarks that remind you of Michigan like the Mackinac Bridge, waterfalls, boating and lighthouses from up north.

The design was illustrated through Procreate then painted on a Honda vinyl wrapped car. The painting process was broken up into  4 days to complete the design through ArtPrize.
